The environment at work directly influences how individuals interact with their families. If someone has endured a challenging day, feeling undervalued, they're likely to carry that negativity home. On the contrary, when treated with respect, they return home with a positive demeanour.

Authenticity- for me- is incredibly important. It's easy to spot the difference between acting and authentic performance- even though it may seem a contradiction in terms. You can tell when you see it, or when you experience it.

When individual countries hit a crisis, they've got 2 options, they can either look after themselves (at the cost of their neighbours) or they can create rules which they (and everyone else) will abide by, which requires institutions.

I remember we used to have much better family ties too… parents very often lived with you, little children learned from the older generations, there was a deep personal link between generations… now? if I give advice to one of my grandchildren they laugh and say, 'oh my, you don't know about our lives today…'

After Amaranth, I think to a significant extent, the business side became more important and of greater focus for institutional investors than the investment side.
