In space, and certainly on the International Space Station, everybody is a leader- there are so many complex, moving parts.. there are so many pressures on the system an teams around the world... It's an environment where listening is very important, and an environment where followership is equally as important as leadership.

For large corporations, globalization opened up opportunities without the correlate responsibilities which usually travel with that- so things that banks must do at home (in terms of being carefully regulated) they didn't have to do abroad... This took globalization out of balance, into a vicious cycle – and we're now dealing with the consequences of that.

We have to recognise that if we ignore or downplay the human side, we could lose. That, I think, is really the key insight for why and how things should be done differently.

Taking that first step is your biggest competitive advantage; most people won't do it.

Love relationships, paradoxically, prioritize emotions above these considerations, which often turns out to be their downfall. What truly sustains us is what we mutually agree upon as beneficial and righteous, irrespective of our emotional state.
