We need to get out of the peacetime footing that we are on and we need to get onto a wartime footing against this climate crisis. During World War II, the US allocated 50% of GDP roughly to fighting, and I believe we need to get to 50% of GDP sustained over 5 to 10 years.

We are now trapping in the Earth's atmospheric oceanic system dangerous amounts of greenhouse gases which is equal to four Hiroshima sized nuclear bombs per second. Imagine if we had alien spaceships hovering above earth, dropping four Hiroshima nuclear bombs into our atmosphere every second. What would we do? We would drop everything until we got rid of them.

There's a risk of underestimation if we only count the easily quantifiable elements. It's easy to dismiss minute pathways as insignificant due to their size, but with an infinite number, their collective impact can be substantial.

I often pose a critical question to businesses: if the economy began transitioning towards sustainability, would this be a boon or a bane for your business? If it's perceived as a threat, your paramount priority should be to modify your business model until this transition becomes an opportunity.

Pinpoint accuracy isn't as significant as one might think. A reasonably good estimate can still greatly assist in managing these environmental issues far better than not attempting to calculate it at all.

I don't see the concept of offsetting as a valid or beneficial solution in the long run. We need to drastically reduce our carbon emissions. If you genuinely delve into the scientific data, it's clear that we are in a significantly dire situation, far more serious than the conventional media discourse would have you believe.

There's a transition from brown industries to green initiatives. This generation has been instrumental in driving this change, and they're not about to relent, regardless of governmental stances. We're also seeing the 'feminisation of finance' as women progressively take the reins of vast asset pools.

The defining feature of our era is that the next generation are bona fide digital natives. They're backed by technology, making them tech-empowered. Thanks to social media, they can sway vast audiences in mere moments. They possess a crystal-clear agenda about the environment, justice, equality, and beyond just financial markets, they're reshaping social and political narratives.

Today, policies are sold to us largely on the basis of fear, or fear mitigation: from immigration to climate change, from health services to defence. It's less about promoting a progressive vision of the future and more about playing to our fears of what might happen if we don't toe a particular line.

In my role, I assess new investments and innovations not just through financial lenses but also considering their societal and environmental impacts. This broader perspective is a key difference from the shareholder-centric approach.

$1.8 trillion a year is spent subsidizing industries that harm us, predominantly fossil fuels. Redirecting a significant portion of these funds could dramatically accelerate our transition.
